mouAlbanian: The Alps Mountains

"The Accursed Mountains"

Mountains, Mountains, Mountains

The Accursed Mountains are one of Albania's most well-known landmarks. The Accursed Mountains are a stunning mountain range in northern Albania. The mountains go along the borders of Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro. The Accursed Mountains are also known as "the Albanian Alps" on occasion.

The Accursed Mountains' remoteness is what makes them so unique. The mountains are impassable to this day.

When compared to Mont Blanc, these mountains are unfathomable. The Mont Blanc has cable cars, highways, tunnels, etc. The Accursed Mountains remain extremely inaccessible, with no cable cars, tunnels, or roads other than a stoney dirt route to drive on.

To give you an idea of how inaccessible the region is, you cannot visit it in the winter because the mountain roads are entirely snow-covered. Even in the summer, you must drive a 4WD to reach the Accursed Mountains' remote towns.

Valbone and Theth are the two most well-known mountain communities in the Accursed Mountains. A route through the mountains only links these two settlements. The only way to go from one community to the next is to walk through the Valbone Pass for 8 hours. Because there are no roads or cable cars, you must carry your luggage or strap it to the back of a mule.

At the same time, it is the Accursed Mountains' seclusion that attracts many tourists and hikers! You may disconnect from our fast-paced world amid the Accursed Mountains. You can get lost in nature and have an authentic experience.

Another significant advantage is the Accursed Mountains' authenticity. You can stay at a guest house near a local family. You can sample delicious local cuisine at the guest's home. Pure mountain honey is available straight from the beehive. And the traditional "Flija" pancakes are still cooked on a round dish over an open fire outside.
